Welcome To The Grand Illusion
“Welcome to the Grand Illusion, come on in and see what’s happening. Pay the price, get the tickets for the show. The stage is set, the band starts playing. Suddenly your heart is pounding, wishing secretly you were a star. Don’t be fooled by the radio, TV or the magazines. They show you photographs of how your life should be but they’re just someone else’s fantasy. So if you think your life is complete confusion, cause your neighbours got it made, just remember that it is a grand illusion, and deep inside we’re all the same… We made the grade and still we wonder who the hell we are.” Styx, Grand Illusion, 1977
Talk about being all one is common, yet to know life beyond the grand illusion is rare. Descartes identified perception as res interna vs reality, res externa. Much like Socrates who lifted ancient Greece out of skepticism and relativism, with great awareness backed by math he showed a verifiable truth or essence exists. In spiritual literature, the ego is used to denote, various levels of perception. The nature of the ego is dualistic. (ie: I am here and you are there) which hides reality from our perception and fuels fear based getting behaviors for survival and happiness.
Perception is correlated to our level of consciousness. Like iron filings flying through space attracted to a magnet, those with similar levels of consciousness flow together. This is visible throughout nature as schools of sardines and flocks of starlings all with the same level of consciousness, act in animalistic survival mode and flow together as a seeming single unit. Hence, through the process of attraction to that which is similar and aversion to that which is different, we end up surrounding ourselves by those who confirm that the illusions we see are real. There is one main conversation happening in cafés around the world: “this is how I see it” and “yes you are right”. Everyone else is wrong or not as enlightened. The stage is set for misunderstandings, competitions, hurts, errors, trials, conflicts and war with friends, family, neighbors and all others.
To this end, our mind is not equipped to distinguish truth from falsehood. We have all had some realizations of what we once thought to be true, is not so true now. This reality is also detectable via spiritual growth, intuition, revelation, realizations, experiences of Grace, or with applied and behavioral kinesiology, psychoenergetic science, HRV, EEG’s and other measuring applications.
With the dualistic ego in charge we compete for food, land, shelter, love and lovers. Physical animal attraction, infatuation, glamour, desire and fear based mating rule. There is no need to get upset or feel any guilt for our animalistic inheritance as it ensures species survival. We also often enjoy the daily tribulations, dramas and joys of life from our dualistic view. As we begin to identify with oneness we can realize that we are never alone and love exists at all times if we choose to align with it. Our egos may get caught off guard at funerals when we get a hit by osmosis of the real love of the family that was always there. We feel it too, as a strange sensation in the heart and lump in the throat. Love and the peace, under the noise, are the nature of reality.
David R Hawkins MD realizations that all truth of all time could be known and calibrated furthered Socrates and Descartes advancements and left him with a great responsibility to share this mind numbing advancement with humanity. As such the world renowned Scale of Consciousness that measures the truth of anything in the Universe and books such as Truth vs Falsehood evolved.
